TikTok, with over a billion active users, is a consumer reach powerhouse for both regular users and businesses.
Every day, millions of short films reach people all around the world. It’s also useful for brand management and advertising with sponsored adverts.
In positioning to capitalize on the trend, Meta launched Instagram Reels in 2020 and Facebook Reels in September 2021 in countries like the United States, Canada, Mexico, and India.
Meta is launching reels in 150 countries worldwide to allow people to create fresh and exciting content, earn money, and connect with audiences.
TikTok Vs Facebook Reels
TikTok started in China in 2016, but it wasn’t accessible for iOS or Android until 2017. As a result, its popularity did not skyrocket until it was combined with musical.ly in 2018. This made it a global app with existing movies and users.
TikTok allows users to create and share videos using the app. Filters and other embellishments make a video more engaging or marketable. It covers a wide range of topics, including home repair, humor, conspiracy theories, and more.
Users may follow producers, comment on videos, like videos, and change videos by swiping up or down. In addition, brands may make TikToks for sponsored commercials or establish their TikTok account for organic reach.
Reels have a similar UI, but it offers various ad possibilities, with more on the way in the near future. Overlay advertising, banner ads, and sticker ads are among the ad formats available. In addition, meta is experimenting with an income stream for artists in which users may buy stars for their favorite creators.
Increased Editing Features
Meta is also introducing additional editing features, such as:
- Remix, which allows users to construct a reel alongside an existing and publicly shared reel.
- Reels that last 60 seconds
- Making of draft reels
- Video clipping allows makers to explore multiple formats for live and long-form video more easily.
Can Reels Compete with Tik Tok?
The immense reach of Facebook and Instagram allows Meta to reach many more people with Reels than TikTok can, whether people will take advantage of this or stick to using the more familiar TikTok.
Facebook’s clientele is older than TikTok’s, so will they be eager to utilize Reels or rehash their old TikToks for the new program?
